The Pacific University Band Project is a partnership between college students learning how to teach and school-aged students learning how to play wind, brass, and percussive instruments. Through this partnership, the preparation of band teachers is improved while the number of young band players is increased, both positively affecting the quality of available educational opportunities in the community. Students are taught by highly qualified and experienced university faculty and undergraduate students, teachers-in-preparation, who work under the close supervision of faculty.
The Pacific University Band Project provides high quality and affordable music instruction for beginning and intermediate woodwind, brass, and percussion players, including flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, euphonium/baritone horn, and percussion. The program offers small and large ensembles as well as private lessons. Each semester, students are afforded opportunities to perform in public in group settings and solo recitals.
